on
Ray Hamilton
3Strongsville 51 - Nordonia 41 | (6-3)
Strongsville stormed out to an early lead and held a 38-7 advantage at halftime. Nordonia put together a good second half making the game a shoot out. The Mustangs were able to hold on and won 55-41. Hamilton had a huge game for Strongsville. He had 3 first half touchdown receptions and finished the game with 6 receptions for 115 yards. And, as always, here's his latest blog post.

Next Game: vs. Solon - 10/29

Austin Blythe
W Williamsburg 28 - Maquoketa 18 | (8-1)
Williamsburg finished off its regular season with a win. The Raiders trailed after 2 quarters, but scored 20 unanswered to start the second half. The Raiders now enter the Iowa Class 3A playoffs [pdf]. No mentions of Blythe were found.

Next Game: vs. Maquoketa - 10/27 (Playoffs, 1st Round)

Jake Duzey
L Athens 21 - Troy 38 | (3-6)
Athens gave up over 400 rushing yards in a loss to Troy on Friday. The loss ends the Redhawks' season at 3-6 as they fail to make the playoffs. Duzey had 175 all purpose yards in the loss, a lot coming from 5 receptions for 74 yards. He also had 33 rushing yards and 68 return yards. Here are the stats for his senior season:
  • Rushing: 34 carries, 147 yards
  • Receiving: 38 receptions, 629 yards, 4 TDs
  • Defense: 21 tackles, 6 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries
  • Returns: 4 punt returns for 30 yards, 12 kickoff returns for 223 yards

Season Over

Riley McMinn
W Rochester 41 - Southeast 0 | (9-0)
Rochester finished off a perfect regular season with a big win over Southeast. The Southeast coach, after the embarrassing loss (and a 0-9 season) fired his entire coaching staff. With a 9-0 record, the Rockets earned a 1 seed in the Illinois Class 4A playoffs. No mentions of McMinn were found.

Next Game: vs. Freeburg - 10/29 (Playoffs, 1st Round)

Cole Fisher
W Millard North 36 - Bellevue East 0 | (7-2)
I could only find the box score of this game, no real story. Millard North finished the regular off with a win and qualified as the #5 seed for the Nebraska Class A playoffs [pdf].

Next Game: vs. Norfolk - 10/29 (Playoffs, 1st Round)

Jordan Walsh
L Lyons 31 - Glenbard West 13 | (8-1)
Glenbard West lost its first football game since 2007, upset in the final week of the regular season. The Hilltoppers struggled all night and turned the ball over 3 times. Glenbard West has a chance to redeem itself in the Illinois Class 7A playoffs as a #2 seed.

Next Game: vs. Plainfield North - 10/30 (Playoffs, 1st Round)

Melvin Gordon
W Bradford 70 - Tremper 21 | (8-1)
After its only loss of the season last week, Bradford rebounded and destroyed Tremper. Bradford gave up a couple a long runs early in the game and found itself down 7 to 21. From that point forward, Bradford ran all over Tremper. Bradford now moves on to the post-season as a 2 seed in the Wisconsin Division 1 playoffs [pdf]. Gordon had 15 carries for 156 yards and 3 TDs. He also had a 29-yard touchdown catch.

Next Game: vs. Bay View - 10/27 (Playoffs, 1st Round)

Torrey Campbell
L Barron Collier 28 - Naples | (5-3)
Coming off of a bye week, Barron Collier really struggled to move the ball. The Cougars scored just 7 points and had less than 100 yards of total offense. Despite holding Naples to just 13 points, Barron Collier lost its third game of the year. Campbell was the only bright spot on the Cougars offense, rushing for 34 yards and the lone touchdown on 6 carries.

Next Game: at Golden Gate - 10/29

Henry Krieger-Coble
L Mt. Pleasant 0 - Oskaloosa 40 | (5-4)
Mt. Pleasant ended the regular season on the wrong foot getting dominated by Oskaloosa. Despite the loss, the Panthers still qualify for the Iowa Class 3A playoffs [pdf]. Krieger-Coble had 2 carries for 25 yards and 12 tackles.

Next Game: at ADM - 10/27 (Playoffs, 1st Round)

Jacob Rudock
W St. Thomas Aquinas 56 - McArthur 0 | (8-0)
Aquinas clinched a playoff berth with an easy win over McArthur. The Raiders scored touchdowns on each of their first 6 possession and only played the starters shortly into the second quarter. Rudock only attempted 5 passes, completing 4 for 84 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Next Game: vs. Deerfield - 10/29

John Raymon
L Council Rock North 7 - Pennsbury 29 | (0-8)
Council Rock North continued down its path to a winless season, getting beat again without putting up much of a fight. CRN only had 115 yards of offense and just 20 rushing yards. Raymon did not play due to injury. I know he had a foot injury about a month ago, but don't know if this is the same injury or something new.

Next Game: vs. Bensalem - 10/30

Austin Vincent
W DeSoto 61 - Mesquite Horn 47 | (7-1)
This was a messy game between DeSoto and Mequite Horn. There was a brawl in the second half. Punches were thrown. It took 14 minutes to separate the fight and many players and even DeSoto's coach were ejected. There were also 28 penalties called and very little defense played as the two teams racked up over 100 combined points. The brawl was actually the turning point for DeSoto though. The very next play, the Eagles scored a TD to go up 48-47. They added two more TDs to win by 14. Vincent had 2 catches for 60 yards and TD.

Next Game: at Mesquite - 10/29

Melvin Spears
W Flower Mound Marcus 14 - Allen 30 | (8-0)
A close game hung around for most of the first half. Then Allen put together a string of 27 straight points that were too much for Marcus to overcome and the Eagles won. No mentions of Spears were found.

Next Game: vs. Hebron - 10/29

Mike Orloff and Marcus Grant
W Thayer Academy 8 - Lawrence Academy 43 | (4-0)
Lawrence Academy stormed out to 35-0 halftime lead and then cruised to an easy win over Thayer. Orloff and Grant continued to do a little bit of everything for Lawrence Academy. Orloff had a big day throwing 4 TDs. He was 10 of 14 for 158 yards. He also carried the ball 3 times for 51 yards and another score. The Spartans also tried some trickery having Grant throw the ball twice...one was incomplete, the other intercepted. He did rush once for 8 yards and have 3 receptions for 61 yards and a TD though. On defense, Grant had 2 tackles and Orloff had 5 and an interception. Grant also handled returns with two punt returns for 20 yards and a kickoff return for 25.

Next Game: at Noble and Greenough - 10/30
