Trevon Young is the second in-state player to commit to Iowa (the other is Ike Boettger). Young is from Des Moines and plays for Lincoln High School (same school as Jordan Bernstine and Adam Robinson). He is being brought in as an outside linebacker with the thought of moving him to defensive end once he puts on a few pounds.

High School

Last year Lincoln tore through the Metro League, but lossed in the second round of the Iowa 4A playoffs. They finished 9-2. Young was a big part of the Railsplitters' success. He had 61 tackles and 2 fumble recoveries as a junior playing DE and LB. He also played some as a wide receiver.

Quick Analysis

Young is another unheralded recruit. Scout is the only service that has him rated (2-stars) and his only other FBS offer is from Iowa State (Rivals, Scout, 247sports, ESPN). In his video he shows the ability to shed a block and is a sound tackler. If Iowa's plan is for him to play on the line, he'll need to beef up which means a redshirt year (unless he really puts on good weight as a senior in high school).
