I just watched the Big Ten Football Tour's stop in Iowa City on my BTN HD. It's late, so I'm just going to throw out a couple quick thoughts and then go to bed.

Defense:
  • The defense overall looked solid and healthy
  • Ballard is a great fit at DT, had a sack today
  • I saw Willie Lowe make a good play on a ball, so that was encouraging
  • Micah Hyde is skinny, but looked okay in coverage
  • Angerer showed some nice coverage skill breaking up a pass
Offense:
  • Jewel still out, and now DJK is out too
  • Bulaga was practicing and looked fine
  • Keenan Davis had a great catch
  • Moeaki is very, very good. Blocking, running routes, catching the ball, everything
  • Running backs looked okay. Paki made a couple of good runs and saw Robinson running pretty hard
  • Wegher got destroyed in a blocking drill...he might be sticking to special teams this year
  • Gettis looked strong and was running with the 1s at guard
Overall it was really fun to watch and nice to see the team practicing. I'm very excited about the upcoming season and today's show just got me more amped up. If DiNardo is right implying that Iowa may be one of the top 2 teams in the conference, then we're in for a treat this year.

If you didn't get to watch it tonight, here's a video for you of the quick interview with Kirk Ferentz. You can see more on the BTN's website here.
