Lowe may not transfer after all
Less than a week ago it was reported that Willie Lowe had asked to be released from his scholarship at Iowa. The way the original Joe Shad story made it sound was that Lowe was unhappy at Iowa after his bout with rhabdo.Turns out, that's not really the case. Lowe's uncle told Randy Peterson of the Des Moines Register, that Lowe is still considering staying at Iowa and that he doesn't "have any ill will about Iowa at all." Basically Lowe is still feeling the effects from the rhabdo and wants to take the year off so he's leaving his options open.
Iowa spring game/open practice this weekend
Just a reminder, the Iowa spring game is this Saturday. The early forecast is not too good...chance of rain and a high of only 49. Still, it's the first opportunity to see the 2011 version of the team. I'll be there.
When: April 16, 2011 - 12:00 pm
Where: Kinnick Stadium, Iowa City, IA
If you can't make to Kinnick or want to avoid the potentially dreary weather, the Big Ten Networking will be streaming the practice online. I believe you have to pay to watch, but it may be worth subscribing for the year if you like to watch other Iowa sports beyond football.

Schedules for 2013 and 2014
The Big Ten announced the future football schedules for 2013 and 2014 this past week. Iowa's schedules sees Ohio State and Wisconsin rotate back on while Indiana and Penn State rotate off (not a very fair trade in terms of competitiveness if you ask me...but should make for some good games). Illinois is still off of the schedule which will make it a total of 6 years without the teams meeting (unless it happens in the B1G title game). The conference schedule has an expanded timeline with games beginning in September and ending after Thanksgiving. There are 2 bye weeks built in. Iowa actually has its conference opener at Wisconsin sandwiched between two open Saturdays. The good news with the byes though, is that both years Iowa has a bye before playing Ohio State.
One last interesting bit from the future schedules is that the Iowa-Nebraska game is scheduled for Saturdays both years. I would guess that these games will be moved to Black Friday like they are doing this year and next.
