If you didn't take my advice yesterday and follow the BTN Crew on Twitter while they attended Iowa's practice, you missed an exciting couple of hours last night. Every couple of minutes, a small crack in the usually closed doors of Hawkeye practices was opened and we got to peak inside. Of course nothing earth shattering came out, but besides a unsurprising Stanzi interception the tone from the BTN was very, very positive.

On to the Tweets!

  • Great to see Jewel Hampton back in there - looks like he's ready to go
  • As always - Ferentz incredibly involved in everything that happens - probably one of the most vocal HC's in Big Ten during practice
  • Really liked Keenan Davis when I saw him last year and still do - think he could have a big yr. CJ Fiedorowicz will be a match-up nightmare
  • Howard just commented that he really likes the looks of Mike Daniels in the DL drills. Good motor, good strength.
  • Just watched Shaun Prater standing maybe 5 ft away from the JUGS machine catching balls fired out of it one-handed. Impressive stuff.
  • Jeremiah Hunter having a nice practice - seems poised to take over for Angerer as their playmaker at LB
  • Sweet cut-back by Jewel Hampton after catching a screen pass drawing some oohs and aahs. Then, McNutt w a great 1-handed TD catch.
  • This defensive line is really, really good. Clayborn is obviously a beast. Ballard has looked great - and Daniels has been a revalation.

  • Gerry & Howard both impressed with the stature of C.J. Fiedorowicz.
  • Lines working hard under the lights at Iowa.
  • DL Mike Daniels really impressing Howard during individual drills vs. The O-Line.
  • Stanzi has looked pretty solid most of practice but still needs work on the INTs, just gave one up to Shane DiBona.
  • PK Daniel Murray & Trent Mossbrucker still not separating themselves, just matched each other 2-2 from same distance out.
  • Second team offensive line having a tough time with Clayborn & Klug, been in the backfield right away on last two plays.
  • Beautiful deep ball by Stanzi & amazing one handed grab by Marvin McNutt. A lot of chatter by the team after the catch.
  • Stanzi says the o-line is coming together, has a great attitude.
  • Clayborn expecting big things from the 2010 defensive line.
  • Ferentz says with the Big Ten playing at a high level the Hawkeyes will have to earn everything they get.

Quick Thoughts:
  • Great to see a couple of mention of C.J. Fiedorowicz. We have been expecting for some time that he wouldn't red-shirt, but haven't really heard how he's been practicing. He didn't play a whole lot in the open practice last Saturday.
  • Mike Daniels also go a couple of mentions...maybe Ballard will slide outside when Binns is serving his 1-game suspension and make room for Daniels at tackle. It'll be good to have a 5th guy who can provide a rotation along the line during the season too, to keep those legs fresh.
  • Praters sounds like he is okay, which is good news since he left practice a little early on Saturday with a leg injury of some kind.

HawkeyeSports.com had a good write up talking about what some of the others from the BTN were saying highlighting how well the Iowa coaching staff develops players. The site also posted the practice photos from last night, including in photo #18 Adam Robinson carrying the ball. The rumor was a hip-flexor, which is usually pretty minor, but it's still good to seem him practicing.
