It has been a surprisingly news filled football off season--conference realignment, a couple arrests, a lot going on in recruiting, other major sporting events, etc...--but I think we can all agree that the college football season needs to hurry up and get here soon. We are currently 51 days out from Iowa vs. Eastern Illinois, but there are a few important dates to look forward to during the wait that will hopefully make the time go by faster.

August 2-3, 2010 - Big Ten Football Media Days
The Media Days always provide a ton of coverage and thus give us plenty of stories read and videos to watch, which I suppose is the whole point. Though not a lot of earth shattering news comes out of these events, I wouldn't be surprised if Ferentz addresses the length of suspension for Hampton, Bernstine, and Binns. There is also a little preseason voting that takes place for the top teams in the conference and top offensive and defensive players. Iowa has been left out the past few years as the conference only releases the top 3 schools, but shouldn't be this year. I'm guessing we'll see Iowa #2 behind OSU and Clayborn as the preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

August 4, 2010 - The Start of Fall Camp
Announced yesterday by @HawkeyeFootball on Twitter, fall camp is just 3 weeks away (from yesterday). Iowa will have 29 practices and then the season starts. During this time we should get a better feel about how the team is looking and how the depth chart will shake out, even though Ferentz likes to keep it pretty locked down.

August 14, 2010 - Kids at Kinnick Day (Open Practice)
If you missed a chance to see the Hawkeyes this off-season during the spring "game" then don't miss Kid's Day. It will be the first real chance to the 2010 Iowa Hawkeyes in action. The event usually starts around 1:00 and features a few drills and a light scrimmage.

September 4, 2010 - The 2010 Season Finally Starts
