Current Players

Seniors: 1 - Stanzi
Juniors: 0
Sophomores: 2 - Vandenberg, Wienke
RS Freshmen: 1 - Suess
Freshmen: 4 - Derby, Vier, Haluska, McMillan

The Hawkeyes are set at quarterback through 2012 with Stanzi the starter this year and Vandenberg the likely starter in '11 and '12. With Weinke around there should be a good backup though 2012 too. If Derby pans out at quarterback (which I think he will) and he redshirts this year, then Iowa could be set all the way through 2014. A good backup will be crucial though, especially if Derby is used to run the ball a lot increasing his chance of injury. I don't think any of the other QBs currently on Iowa's roster have a real chance at starting and I think Vier will change positions (TE probably) sooner than later.

2011 Needs: 1

Prospects Offered

Braxton Miller - Huber Heights, OH | Scout: 5*
Links: Scout, Rivals
Braxton Miller has an offer from the who's who of college football. Realistically, Iowa has no chance at landing him, and I think we'll likely see him stay instate and end up a Buckeye.

Cardale Jones - Cleveland, OH | Scout: 3*
Links: Scout, Rivals
If for some reason Miller doesn't go to Ohio State, Jones will. However the Buckeyes probably won't take both. So the Hawkeyes may be an option for Jones.

Josh Grady - Seffner, FL | NR
Links: Scout, Rivals
Currently Iowa is the best school to offer Grady (Iowa State, Northwestern, and a few mid-majors are the others). He's a dual-threat QB and to be honest seems like he'd be a better fit for a spread option type of system, though we've seen how well dual-threat guys can be in Iowa's offense. He could come on as an athlete though.

Jacob Rudock - Fort Lauderdale, FL | NR
Links: Scout, Rivals
Rudock seems to fit the mold of an Iowa quarterback...pro-style, but athletic. He's a good decision maker too, throwing 34 TDs and just 5 INTs last year. Currently his only other offers are from Memphis and Wisconsin.
