I'm not sure who has the ball, but #25 is Hall of Famer Randy Duncan.
I've seen a couple of places, including Hawkeye video coordinator Matthew Engelbart's blog, that say that the Hawkeyes will wear throwback jerseys for the game against Ball State on September 25th. The jerseys will be replicas of those worn by the 1958 FWAA National Champion Iowa Hawkeyes. There really is no better team to honor than the '58 team who won the Rose Bowl against Cal and finished the season 8-1-1, and #2 in the AP and Coaches poll.

I wish they wore those hats every game.
Based on the picture, the jersey looks pretty awesome. Since it's a home game I'm not sure if they would go with the home black or the white jersey worn in the Rose Bowl. Doesn't matter too much as the best part is the old school gold helmets. It'll be interesting to see if Ball State wears throwbacks as well (apparently there are no plans so far) and more importantly the referees.

Iowa's last (and only) throwback game was against Kent State on September 4, 2004. That game Iowa won 39-7 donning jerseys honoring 1939 team in celebration of the 75th anniversary of Kinnick Stadium. The refs, "chain gang", cheerleaders, dance squad, program vendors, and Kent State all participated in the throwback. They also handed out plastic "straw" hats to the fans. It definitely created a lot of buzz for a game against a quite lesser foe. I assume that's why they are choosing Ball State this year, as the game is sandwiched between Penn State and Michigan. And let's face it...Ball State won't be very good this year. Anyway, I wasn't sure if this was a game I'd make it to this year, but now it's one I don't want to miss.
