The 2009 season is in the books. The all-star games are over. Signing day has come and past. And now...well spring practice is still over a month away and the spring "game" is the next time we'll see the team. An actual football game is still over 200 days away. So, it's time to put 2009 behind us and start talking 2010.

I've got the 2010 Iowa Football schedule up (still need to change the one in the sidebar) and it looks pretty favorable. There are 7 home matches against Eastern Illinois, Iowa State, Penn State, Ball State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Ohio State. So that's a lot of "state" schools, but also the tougher teams have to come to Iowa City (this is a year where season tickets are a must I think). That leaves an easier road schedule with games against Arizona, Michigan, Indiana, Northwestern, and Minnesota.

Roster:
I took my first stab at what the 2010 Iowa Football roster will look like. I think I was able to remove all the graduating seniors and any others that are not coming back. For now the incoming freshman just have "??" as their number and I took my best guess at their position. I probably missed position changes and maybe a few player leaving, so please let me know if you see anything wrong.

Just some interesting pieces of information about the roster:
  • There are 29 Freshmen, 20 Red-shirt Freshmen, 26 Sophomores, 25 Juniors, and 29 Seniors
  • Tight end and running back both have 10 players.
  • There are 4 players listed at 6'7", and 3 are incoming freshmen. The other is Brett Van Sloten.
  • Seven players on the roster went to high school at City High School in Iowa City.
  • There are 59 players from Iowa, 15 from Ohio, 14 from Illinois, and no other state has more than 5.

I'm sure my projected starters will change multiple times between now and September. There is nothing really too ground breaking here, but for now here are my thoughts.
