Hawkeye seniors Pat Angerer and A.J. Edds are both named on the
2009 Butkus Award watch list. The Butkus Award is annually given to the best linebacker in the nation. The watch list only includes 35 players, so for Iowa to have 2 players make the list is quite impressive.
The Big Ten is well represented as well. Penn State also has 2 on the list (Lee and Bowman) and Michigan, Michigan State, and Illinois all have one.
The preseason award watch lists have been kind to the Hawkeyes. With the 2 from the Butkus Award it brings the total number up to 9.
